911 OPERATOR Review for Nintendo Switch

We’ve all heard the classic line, “9-1-1, what’s your emergency?” and may have, at one time or another, fantasized about answering one of those frantic calls in the heat of moment to help a distressed citizen but could you actually handle the pressure? In this immersive Nintendo Switch game 911 Operator by SONKA and Jutsu Games, players can test their patience, critical thinking, and decisiveness in an emergency. If you’re willing, try your shot at directing first-responders and perhaps you’ll learn some important information along the way!

This is not a game for the anxious or the weak. Initially, I assumed 911 Operator would be an easy game. After all, you are simply answering calls and directing cars, right? Wrong! After playing for only a few moments I quickly learned it was much more difficult than I had anticipated. The local map and the realistic radio calls immerse players in the lives of a 9-1-1 operator. Although the controls are too sensitive and may sometimes add to the frustration, this game is still an overall delight. I am only disappointed by their lack of fluidity in the control movement during the selection process.

A unique part of 911 Operator is the upgrades, which allow players to purchase new vehicles, hire new employees, and assign current employees upgraded equipment like bulletproof vests which are beneficial during assaults. As players earn money during deployments, they should consider purchasing additional vehicles. This will benefit them monumentally as they are flooded with calls and emergency situations around their town.

While some calls are tricky, others are quite simple to determine whether they qualify as a state of emergency. As players receive calls, 911 Operator relies on discretion and an ability to determine the correct respondent. For instance, a call regarding a robbery demands a player to decide between a police officer, a fire fighter, or an ambulance to send to the scene of the crime. I found this to be a prime example of SONKA and Jutsu Games’ implementation of critical thinking. While it may appear obvious, sometimes a player’s initial thought may not be correct, or a combination of respondents may be required to resolve an emergency.

Although players will have a great time playing through 911 Operator, SONKA and Jutsu Games make it clear this is still a very realistic simulation by including relevant emergency information cards between deployments. This information will range anywhere from how to speak to a 9-1-1 operator in emergency situations to recognizing the signs of a heart attack and how to approach this life-threatening situation. This information is vital for emergencies, so players should not dismiss these but instead take in the important information offered and use it to their advantage. You never know when you might be the one to save the day!

Whether you’ve done it before or fantasized about it, saving a life is without a doubt one of the bravest things a person can do. In this immersive simulation 911 Operator, not only do players experience what is like to sit behind the receiving end of an emergency call. In addition to this nerve-wracking situation, players will also learn valuable information that can help them save lives! If you’re up for the pressure, take a chance and play 911 Operator now!

My name is Haylee, but everyone calls me "Haylz". Gaming has been a passion of mine since my grandma bought me The Sims for PC and my love for gaming flourished from there. Currently, I'm a Senior studying English at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and spend most of my time gaming and leading my school through collegiate competitions as President of the eSports club! Despite being a dedicated vegetarian, my favorite games tend to be First Person Shooters and I'm naturally drawn to blood and gore! Chances are, if you can kill in it, I'll play it... I just won't eat it (unless it's a Fallout perk)!
