Free Skill Available for All Alexa-Enabled Device Owners in the US
Win Limited Edition Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Amazon Echo Device
SAN FRANCISCO — Today, Ubisoft announced the release of a new Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Spartan skill for Amazon Alexa. Free to enable on all Amazon Echo devices, the skill, developed alongside R/GA, embodies Alexios and does many of the things that Alexa can do, but with the swagger, attitude and pride of a Spartan hero. The skill will also provide Assassin’s Creed Odyssey players with useful in-game information to enhance their gameplay experience once early access begins on October 2, 2018.
Starting today, the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Spartan skill is available to answer many of the same questions you would ask Alexa. With over 1,500 responses, the skill can be enabled on any Echo device, which includes the Echo Plus, Echo Dot, Echo, Echo Spot and Echo Show. Players can find the skill in the Alexa Skills Store through the Alexa app or an Amazon.com.
Once Assassin’s Creed Odyssey early access begins on October 2, the skill will serve as a companion piece for players along their epic journey, creating new ways to learn about various points of interest in the game, including descriptions of landmarks, cities and ports, without disrupting their gameplay experience.
While the skill works on any Alexa-enabled device, Ubisoft and R/GA also produced a limited edition Amazon Echo Plus made to look like a Spartan helmet. A small number of these limited edition devices will be available for free in limited quantities as part of a giveaway promotion. For more information, please visit: www.assassinscreed.com/Alexios
Once the skill is enabled, players can simply say, “Alexa open the Spartan skill” to get started. Here are a few examples of the skill’s finest Spartan responses to common questions:
- “What’s the temperature today? – “It’s colder than the heart of Hades after a bad breakup.”
- “Tell me about the Temple of Zeus.” – “The Temple of Zeus at the foot of the Akropolis was a vast temple dedicated to Olympian Zeus. Construction began under the tyrant Peisistratos but was interrupted by the emergence of democracy.”
- “What’s on my shopping list?” – “Blood-stain remover. That is all.”
- “Tell me about the Battle of the Giants vs Gods.” – “Here, frightening beings of invincible strength, the Giants, avenged the Titans who were ousted by the Olympians. In result, the Giants were struck by lightning and pierced with flying arrows.”
- “Tell me a joke.” – “An Athenian declared war. HAH! Get it?”
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be released worldwide on October 5, 2018, on PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, and Windows PC. In addition, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has been enhanced with additional features for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro system. Gold, Collectors and Ultimate Editions owners will have access to the game three days early, starting October 2.
