One Finger Death Punch 2 Review for Steam

<Teleports into the new dimension. Suddenly a body flies towards me and I duck down>

What the heck? <I turn to see what appears to be stick figures running towards a lone stick figure in the center attacking them>

Hmm… I wonder where what dimension I’m in. <I turn to see a gift shop and decide to head in there>

Alright, so according to this booklet, I’m in the dimension of a game called One Finger Death Punch <I look back at the booklet> 2! This looks like a swell game!

But first, let’s look at the people behind this game!

~~~
One Finger Death Punch 2 is developed and published by Silver Dollar Games. Looking into the company’s past, I can say that they didn’t have a humble beginning. However, they did one thing that the best game developers do: they didn’t give up and learned from their mistakes! Now then, it’s time for us to learn of the ways of One Finger Death Punch 2.
~~~

Upon starting up the game to prepare for my journey, I was met with four lines:

Simplicity to perfection.

To be played in bursts.

By design, there is no story.

Only crazy Kung-Fu.

These four lines are what they are, simple lines, yet they provided a major foreshadowing of what was awaiting me. Upon starting the game, I was met with an amazing artwork on the loading screen. Once the game loaded, I began my journey.

On the menu screen, there are four options, but three of them were locked. There was only one option for me to choose: Levels. The remaining options will be unlocked later.

The first level had the basics, like a tutorial. However, throughout the entire journey, there will be an announcer teaching you the ways of OFDP! What adds to the excitement is that the announcer sounds like a sensei! When I had began the first level, the first step in the journey, from there on, I went into what could be called a “gaming mania”! After I had learned the straightforward gameplay, there I was, going from left to right, swinging, punching, practically owning all of the brawlers that dared to fight me!

Oh, I completely forgot. I was so enthralled by all the action that I never explained the gameplay! The gameplay is as follows: Left-click the mouse to attack left, and right-click to attack right. Or, if you are playing co-op with someone else, A and D keys for their left and right, respectively.

You play as a stick figure. Actually, all of the characters are stick figures. That may sound weird, but if you were to see the gameplay, it fits very well! The cool thing is that you can adjust the stick figure to either white or black, show their eyes, all of those good stuff. Speaking of good stuff, if you feel the screen is too large, the mouse cursor is too small, or anything along those lines, you are in the best of luck! The settings menu is filled with a variety of options to allow you and your friend/partner/whoever to have the optimal experience! Now, if only the previous game I reviewed had the option in the settings for screen adjustment.

One last thing before I run back into the action, if you like action games, casual games, Indie games, Beat-em-ups, or all of the above, then One Finger Death Punch 2 is the game for you! Go on, buy it! Trust me, the developers themselves said it’s much more fun playing than watching! One fun fact: If you like the bloody action of Mortal Kombat, there is plenty of that in OFDP2 as well!

Doh! I forgot one last thing, my score for this game.

I give this game a score of: 100/10! Yes, it’s THAT AWESOME!

<clears throat> It’s a clear 10/10 game. It is truly a worthy, glorious game utilizing the simplest of gameplay.

<checks watch> And I have to go now. Well, see you guys later!

I'm the kind of guy who LOVES games with rich storytelling elements, but still finds enjoyment in the other games that don't have those. I am always intrigued by how new and upcoming game developers either bring something new to the table or take something existing and bring an exhilarating twist to it.
