Haven’t yet ventured onto the high seas? ATLAS is currently on sale for 67% off on Steam Early Access now until Friday, August 2.
The ‘Blackwood’ map was created by ISO, the level designer behind ARK: Survival Evolved‘s popular mod-map, ‘Crystal Isles.’ ‘Blackwood’ was designed to be used for single-servers as an example of a mod map that can be hosted unofficially. This specific map will be set up so that it still enables all the mechanics that ATLAS has to offer, whilst hosting it as a standalone world with no database setup required!
Along with the release of ‘Blackwood,’ Grapeshot Games has also recently updated the game to support two new game modes: Single Player and Non-Dedicated Multiplayer. Each enables the host to experience the entire ATLAS(including the enormous world containing thousands of islands) without needing a dedicated server. Non-Dedicated Multiplayer Mode facilitates the ability to play and host a multiplayer session at the same time, allowing up to 8 players simultaneously to adventure together in their own world. Both game modes give the host access to the many customizable settings available to ensure a unique ATLAS experience which is tailored to their desires!
The ‘Blackwood’ patch also introduces a significant functional improvement, allowing Single Player and Non-Dedicated Modes to support the importing and exporting of characters and their inventories, so progress can be retained across maps and servers.
In the last 30 days, ATLAS has added a massive amount of quality of life, performance updates, and bug fixes along with the introduction of single-player and non-dedicated player-hosted multiplayer modes, that have changed the pirate landscape and players have noticed, with the “Most Recent” reviews on Steam jumping nearly 30 points!
