The Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games are just two weeks away, and fans can celebrate by participating in the next big Tetris 99 event! Next weekend’s Tetris 99 9th MAXIMUS CUP event will give players a chance to earn an in-game theme that brings a Pokémon party to the Tetris 99 game. The Tetris 99 9th MAXIMUS CUP event runs from 11 p.m. PT on Nov. 7 to 10:59 p.m. PT on Nov. 11. To compete, Nintendo Switch Online members* just need to play the Tetris 99 online mode during the event period.
Players will earn event points based on their placement in each match. With enough dedication and match attempts during the event window, players of varied skill levels can earn their Pokémon-themed prize.
Once players have accumulated a total of 100 event points, a new theme will unlock, featuring background art, music and Tetrimino designs inspired by the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games. Take home your Tetris badge of honor before you start earning those Gym Badges.
Tetris 99 features an online competitive mode exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members. Owners of the digital version of the game can purchase the optional Big Block DLC, which adds several offline modes.
A physical version of Tetris 99 is also available. For a suggested retail price of $29.99, the physical version includes the game, all DLC and a 12-Month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership.**
