Following a birds-eye view of the project in Humankind’s Episode 1 – “Origins,” this second feature focus takes a deeper dive into the valleys, mountains, and gameplay aspects at the heart of Humankind’s terrain.
Paris — Rolling hills, barren flatlands, snowy, impassible mountains… these are some of Earth’s most stunning features, and ones that we wanted to recreate in an authentic and consequential way in Humankind.
These landscapes are meant to be more than just lovely, though — they are a pillar of Humankind’s gameplay. Moving through a valley will block your line of sight, attacking from higher ground will confer an advantage, and settling in different biomes give access to different strategic and luxury resources.
Next time in Episode 3, developer Amplitude will take a look at claiming and developing said terrain via the region system.
More information on Humankind is available on the Humankind website as well as on Steam.
