KOONGYA Draw Party Review for Android

KOONGYA Draw Party by Netmarble takes drawing games to the next level. This app available for Android offers three different modes and tons of features including cute little characters called Koongya. This game is fun for both puzzle lovers and artists.

The most interesting part about KOONGYA Draw Party, in my opinion, is that it has different modes. I have seen a lot of these drawing games where you take turns guessing and drawing but KOONGYA Draw Party has three different gameplay options. My favorite option is the stage. The stage allows you to guess the drawings done by the Koongya. These drawings are really well done and are often puns of the words they represent. I love a good dad joke and this game seems to have tons of them! I found that I could easily guess the word the drawing represented up until about level 50 and then it started to get more difficult. One thing I do warn about if you are bad at spelling this game may not be for you. If you misspell the word you’re trying to guess it is automatically wrong and you have to try again. I know that that is part of the game but it is a little frustrating as someone who struggles with spelling myself. As you level up you gain access to more and more Koongya and each one has a special ability that you can earn to help you, for example, freezing time. In the character tab, you are able to upgrade and decorate your Koongya friends with the coins you earn.

In Adventure mode, you are able to view and guess the drawings of people and Koongya in your area, kind of similar to Pokemon Go. Unfortunately, compared to the Koongya drawings in the Stage mode, average people’s drawings are not as good and can not even be representations of the word you are supposed to be guessing. In this mode, you can draw as well. My phone has a stylus and this makes drawing a little bit easier but drawing with your finger works just as well.

The last mode is Party and with it being in the name of the game you would assume that it was a big part. In this mode, you have three options, Rotation, Winner, and Quiz Rooms. A rotational party means you and other players take turns drawing on a rotational basis. A winner party means the winner is the one to draw next. You can only create or join quiz rooms if you have a pearl which, from what I understand, you can only purchase in the in-app store. Unfortunately, I did not get to participate in any of these parties. Whenever I tried to join a rotational or winner match there were never any other players available to play with. I think this feature would have been one of the most fun and it is sad that I missed out.

To play any of these features you have to have pencils. Pencils represent life in this game but unlike Candy Crush, where you can continue playing as long as you don’t lose more than 5 life, you lose a pencil every time you play a round. This means you are limited to how many rounds you can play before having to wait for a refill or you have to make in-app purchases. Pencils, and currencies, are also sometimes given as rewards for logging in or completing missions but it still a very limiting feature.

KOONGYA Draw Party has much more to offer but from its main features, I can tell that this is going to be the next hot drawing game. I think it brings a lot to the table that other drawing games haven’t before and overall, is a lot of fun for anyone who likes puzzles and drawing.
