Last year, Obsidian provided us with an amazing game that reminded many players of some of the classics in industry like Mass Effect and Fallout. After almost 8 months, Obsidian has released the port for The Outer Worlds for Nintendo Switch. Check Out our PlayStation 4 review from last year!
Obsidian has done a good thing in bringing The Outer Worlds to Switch, that helps all players carrying an amazing game in your backpack and is accessible everywhere. I had forgotten how much I missed the game, which lets you play in multiple different ways; the replayability of The The Outer Worlds is amazing!
This time around I tried out the game in a different setting and provided points to a lot of different skills – with leadership, stealth, and perception skills at the top. The Nintendo Switch version has allowed me to play The Outer Worlds in a different way that was not available in the first run through at the initial launch of game. Gameplay is perfect as usual, the only thing I do not like is the Switch Analog sticks, that always makes me miss my shot when in a fight. However, there are additional control options available to utilize that. The slow-mo is still amazing and utilizing all the companion skills still feels great. Doing the exploration and finding different ways to complete a quest continues to feel fresh as always.
However, I must say that a great game on lower hardware specs does come with some downsides though, and there is only one, but noticeable, and that is the display. The graphic textures are extremely downgraded and when moving gives it a bad feel. The environment and other effects are nowhere to be seen. Lighting feels dull as well. User Interface feels fine and does not seem downgraded though.
Overall, The Outer Worlds is still the same except the graphics downgrade kind of takes a toll on the game. But we know sometimes this kind of downgrades are unavoidable. I would rate the Switch port of The Outer Worlds, 8 out of 10.
