Why Sony has Decided to Pull Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store

What is Cyberpunk 2077

The game was originally announced in 2012 before being re-announced in 2018. It was showcased with much fanfare and even featured a cameo by star actor John Reeves. Expectations were high and the game was anticipated to be one of the best ever made. After several delays, Cyberpunk 2077 which was supposed to be released in April, eventually came out last week. It is an action-adventure game set in Night City. Prior to its release, Cyberpunk 2077 was and is still a big hit with reviewers.

Issues

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), they strive to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction. This was why they offered to refund customers who were not satisfied with the game. Those with the digital version can get their refunds at Microsoft or Sony Stores, while those with boxed version can return them to the stores. They also decided to pull it out of the PlayStation Store so that the developers can sort out any issues present with the game before they can add it back. Most of the issues with the game have been reported in older consoles like the Xbox One and PS4. However, those with the latest version of consoles have not had any issues. Some of the problems include the screen tearing and choppy frame rates. While it has been receiving great reviews especially from those running it on a PC, the fact that it is almost unplayable in many consoles will be an embarrassment for the developers. CD Project Red is held in high regard as some of the most respected developers in the gaming industry. They will also be disappointed after working so hard to ensure the game is ready before Christmas. Some gamers will also be upset about the lack of transparency on performance when buying it on consoles. While bugs and glitches can be expected on new game releases, this year has been far from normal and has even affected game development, which may be one of the reasons such issues have shown up. The developers of the game have acknowledged they made a mistake by not paying more attention to make the most anticipated gameplay better on old consoles. However, they say they are committed to releasing patches in January and February to solve bug and glitches.
