NetsGC, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, selected three elite players in the 2022 NBA 2K League Draft to complete its roster for the 2022 NBA 2K League season. With the 41st overall pick in the second round, NetsGC center Connor “Shotz” Rodrigues announced the team had selected Shun “Streetz” Brown, a small forward from Chicago.
Later, with the 46th overall pick in the second round, NetsGC selected Michael “HeGotGame034” Tate, a point guard out of Middletown, Del. To complete the roster, Head Coach and General Manager Ivan “OG KING CURT” Curtiss announced NetsGC had chosen Alexander “Steez” Bernstein as the 49th overall pick, a power forward from Santa Ana, Calif. “Following a historic season, we were challenged with selecting experienced players to round out our roster,” said Curtiss. “The three players picked up in tonight’s draft reflect our overall strategy as we approach the start of the season five and we’re excited to get to work.”
Following the conclusion of the 2022 NBA 2K League Draft, NetsGC hosted a post-draft livestream on its Twitch channel (http://www.twitch.tv/netsgamingcrew) with NetsGC analyst Kristian Cuaresma and Curtiss where they interviewed NetsGC players “Shotz,” “Faiz” and the team’s newest draft picks.
Returning to NetsGC this season is 2021 NBA 2K League All-Star center Connor “Shotz” Rodrigues, who was selected by Hawks Talon GC in the Season Two expansion draft prior to being acquired by Kings Guard Gaming for the 2020 season. He averaged 17.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 66.8% from the field and 58.9% from distance in 31.7 minutes per game during the 2021 season. Shooting guard Wahid “Faiz” Faiz also makes his return to the team this season after averaging 13.0 points, 0.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 55.6% from the field and 52.8% from deep in 38.6 minutes per game.
The 2022 draft pool consisted of 145 players. In addition to unretained players from last season, this year’s draft pool also included top‑performing players who earned draft eligibility as part of the “NBA 2K League Draft Prospect Series,” Sony Scouting Grounds tournaments, the NBA 2K League’s Women in Gaming initiative, or the NBA 2K League’s APAC and European Invitationals, or by being identified by the NBA 2K League and its teams based on their play in the 2K community.
