Mothmen 1966 Visual Novel Out Today for PC and Consoles

Through a confluence of misfortune, young couple Lee and Victoria, local gas station owner Holt, and paranormal investigator Lou encounter mysteries shattering their perception of reality. The annual Leonid Meteor Shower draws spectators far and wide, but in 1966, something’s not quite right. Men in black arrive in town demanding answers to impossible questions.

Threatening red eyes peer through the dark woods. Survive eleven chapters of accessible ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’-inspired gameplay that place narrative above all. Solve tricky puzzles to progress through a night of terrors. Having trouble with a particularly tough riddle? Accept the help of the other characters to maintain Mothmen 1966’s pacing instead of getting stuck.

Explore a branching narrative driven by player agency. Uncover hidden cryptids with binoculars, play a game of Impossible Solitaire, fend off a hungry pack of attacking coyotes, and navigate other mini-games providing a sense of urgency. Investigate a gorgeous 8-bit landscape reminiscent of ‘80s tech like the ZX Spectrum accompanied by an otherworldly lo-fi soundtrack.

LCB Game Studio’s ‘Pixel Pulps’ fuse stunning illustrations with a rich narrative punctuated by puzzles. Mothmen 1966 will be followed by the Stephen King-inspired Varney Lake and the hard-boiled Bahnsen Knights later this year. On Steam, PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox consoles, Mothmen 1966 includes a Varney Lake demo, offering a tease of the mysteries yet to come.

“LCB Game Studio’s Mothmen 1966 aligns beautifully with our goal to highlight global indies cut from a different cloth,” said Shintaro Kanaoya, founder and CEO of Chorus Worldwide. “We’re delighted to be part of this project and look forward to seeing players react to this first Pixel Pulp.”

“Pixel Pulps…gotta love the alliteration, right? But ‘Pixel Pulps’ is more than two words we think sound cool together,” said Nico Saraintaris, writer and co-founder of LCB Game Studio. “Mothmen 1966 is the first entry in our shared universe, and we cannot wait for players to experience it.”
