It’s time to claim your museum pass! Today, Atari reveals the release date for microgame mashup Atari Mania. Launching October 13, 2022 on Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Atari VCS, Atari Mania is a past-meets-present romp through Atari’s gaming history, with a few updated twists. As the Caretaker of the Atari Vault, it’s up to the player to mend and defend corrupted Atari titles, restoring order to the classic games and avoiding the wrath of the dastardly “dead pixels.”
Serving as more than just a trip down memory lane, Atari Mania brings a fresh new take to a trove of gaming classics. Not only are the games reimagined and mashed together, but some familiar Atari faces make an appearance as well! However, the corruption has turned friend to foe, and it’s the job of the Caretaker to return both them and their games to their original forms.
Atari Mania Key Features:
- Manic Mashups: Over 150 micro games inspired by the breadth of Atari’s decades-spanning catalog from Asteroids to Yars’ Revenge. Fight back Centipedes with a Pong paddle, and sneak past Rhindle, Adventure’s fiercest dragon! It’s crossover madness in the best way possible!
- Excellent Exploration: Solve tricky puzzles and utilize clever tools to progress through the Vault and discover classically inspired Atari Easter Eggs.
- Pixel-Perfect Pizzaz: A charming neo-retro art update to the classic Atari 2600 style is completed by a soundtrack of retro-inspired jams.
- Characters Like You’ve Never Seen Them Before: Go face to antennae with some of the greatest games and characters in video game history. Trust us — you’ll never think of Bentley Bear the same way again!
- Treasure Trove of Atari History: Collectibles abound, including vintage Atari art, posters, and manuals.
