The only thing better than one villager uprising is a second revolt! Sunsoft is gearing up for Ikki Unite’s next closed beta test on November 27, 2022, in honor of the classic game’s anniversary. The second round of beta testing includes a new batch of features not seen in the first test period, such as a mini-map, hot spots for bosses, emotes, status effect displays, and more.
In Ikki Unite, you team up and fend off hordes of ravening beasts, deadly warriors, and money-hungry landowners in an unorthodox co-op roguelike adventure, using their wits and special abilities – bombs and boomerangs, anyone? – to incite the ultimate riot and bring your greedy landlords down once and for all.
Originally a one or two player game when it launched in 1985, the new version of Ikki Unite is multiplayer experience more in line with the developers’ original vision of a game. Teams of up to 16 players now cooperate to battle a feudal overlord.
Features from the first beta test also return, including multiplayer lobbies and matchmaking with up to eight other players. Further tests will introduce solo mode, character selection, and a map that’s double the size of the current one.
The second closed beta test period opens November 27, 2022, at 1:30 a.m. PST / 6:30 p.m. JST and runs for three hours, until 10:30 p.m. For the first time, SUNSOFT staff will be streaming the introduction of the game. Games are very fast (about 20 minutes, so people participating in the beta would be able to play several games or just pop by to try a single match).
