The Witcher 3 Next Gen Update Review

There are many RPGs that come and go and there are some that stay forever. If anyone can ask me what is the best RPG I have ever played, it is going to be The Witcher 3 no matter what. CD Projekt Red has done a great job in creating an immersive Role playing experience.

I have tried out a lot of RPGs and none have achieved what The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has done that includes the consequences of your choices. CD Projekt Red recently added a next gen update to the already amazing game. And they have worked with multiple modders to bring the mods to the game.

The Witcher 3 Next Gen Update Review

Let’s get into what we get with the update, first of all if you already own a game on older generation then players will be able to get a free update to the next gen version.

What is included in the next gen update:

  • Graphical upgrades including Ray Tracing.
  • New quest that allows players to receive rewards based on Netflix series.
  • Gameplay improvements
  • Squashing a bunch of bugs from the original game.

First of all, for the consoles, the players get to choose between 60 FPS performance mode that makes the gameplay fluid, or Quality mode for better visuals. Honestly though 60 FPS performance mode is a go to thing, that improves the gameplay a lot, and when I tried going back to Quality even though with visual improvements it wasn’t as fun as the performance mode.

As for the new quest, the game already has many amazing quests, adding a new quest just adds to the list some great quest that adds to the lore of the game. As for the gameplay improvements, there are bunch of gameplay tweaks added, but one that made Witcher 3 a game to play for is the new sign casting system, previously players had to first select the sign and then cast but with quick casting they just fire different sign based on Right Trigger plus one of the sign assigned button. On top of the sign quick cast, there is a way to finally clean your map of those question marks so that you are not always bugged about going to all the locations and clear them out and let you explore naturally.

In the past month, since the next gent update launched, I have already played the game twice, and you won’t believe a lot of time you will encounter a quest that you might have missed due to huge world design. I can’t believe the game I played 4-5 years ago had so many hidden quests that I missed out on the first run, or some wrong decision I made that made a bunch of different outcomes and missions that I had no idea about.

There are times, though, when the game has crashed for me a bunch of times after some long play hours but doesn’t hinder the progress as I had an autosave setup for every 5 mins. Overall, I will give The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen update a solid 9 stars out of 10, only negative point for the bugs and crashes that happened to me on PS5 console.
