Madbricks, a Colombian gaming studio, has been acquired by Amber, a Bucharest-based video game development company with locations across the globe. With the integration of external studios, Amber hopes to grow its workforce globally, and this acquisition represents the first step in the company’s new mission to promote a collaborative approach to co-development.
For the past 10 years, Madbricks, a Colombian company based in Bogotá, has focused on co-creation and full development for a variety of platforms and genres. In that time, it has expanded to employ about 40 people, and it has successfully released games on all major platforms, including PC, console, and mobile, cementing its standing as a top studio in Colombia’s and South America’s developing game industries.
Given that Amber and Madbricks have previously collaborated successfully on a number of projects with excellent outcomes, the acquisition expands on their strong working relationship.
Mihai Pohonțu, CEO of Amber stated, “We were impressed by the dedication and professionalism of the Madbricks team during our past collaboration, so this acquisition is a natural next step in our relationship. Emerging markets are part of our DNA, and Madbricks will solidify our presence in the South American games industry landscape.”
Miguel Benavides, CEO at Madbricks said, “For Madbricks, becoming part of Amber means bigger projects and the opportunity to learn from a developed organization like Amber. We pride ourselves on our ability to generate a fast-paced high production value pipeline, and we believe that joining Amber, with its vast, global resources, will tighten our efficiency even further and allow us to fully realize our vision for the company and local industry.”
