Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution Review for Steam

Introduction/Information about Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution

Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution is a game that is planning to release for PC via Steam Early Access on May 21st, 2025. This game is a turn- based strategy game where players will take Napoleon’s place in this alternate timeline. Through strategy and military tactics, players will be able to write their own timeline in this alternate history. I enjoy playing strategy games. They are definitely one of my favorite genres to play nowadays. Playing through this game was a fun experience, thanks to its very simple and easy-to-understand strategy combat. After playing through Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution, I would say this game is a standard turn-based strategy game with important decisions that help craft the player’s own story.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution has basic combat that is simple and easy to understand. The game will start out in Paris, where there are people upset with the king, ready to start a revolution. As a tactical leader, the player must make decisions that they believe is best for the country of France. Would it be best to side with the king or the people of the revolution? The choice is entirely up to the player. Now, as I mentioned earlier, the combat is simple. Players will have units they can control and command in order to defeat the enemies that stand before them. Of course, strategy is the key if players want to be the most effective in these tactical battles. One of the earliest examples the game teaches players that they can implement in their strategies is flanking the enemies. By positioning their units behind enemy units, players can attack the enemy without taking damage. There are plenty of other effective ways of defeating enemies, so I recommend players try and come up with plenty of different strategies to have more fun claiming victory. Another key aspect of the gameplay is with the decisions and political system. There are different questions the player will be asked about, primarily about the revolution, the king, and the country. These decisions are important, as they will affect how the game plays out. Using tactical strategy and political prowess, lead the side that you believe will bring the best outcome for your country.

Final thoughts

Overall, I believe the game Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution, is a pretty simple turn-based strategy game where important decisions will help craft the player’s own, unique story. As I mentioned before, I do enjoy strategy games, and I did enjoy this one. With this game, it was a little disappointing that the combat seemed simpler than I’m used to. However, I think the implementation of the political system and having to make important decisions will impact how the game plays out. It’s what makes the game more unique to me, which is something I always love to see in games. If you enjoy playing tactical strategy games and are looking for a game where you can craft your own story, then I would recommend this game.

Score: 7/10
