With a new teaser (seen below) unveiling Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions and a new PC demo via Steam coming today ahead of its Steam release in Q1 2026, Go North, the atmospheric maze adventure game created by one-man studio gazuntype, made an appearance at today’s Game Devs of Color Expo Direct.
Check out the Go North Game Devs of Color Expo Direct Trailer:
Dara just wants one thing, but as the Maze God is named, the way to discover him turns out to be genuinely maze-like. One basic guideline applies to all of his mazes: the exit is always to the north. Experience a unique maze experience powered by ingeniously crafted webs of interwoven paths as you navigate through stunning scenes of dense forests, winding interior tunnels, floating sky islands connected by artificial bridges and ladders, and more.
Go North is an industry breath of fresh, creative air, showcasing the award-winning creativity emerging from West Africa. Tade Ajiboye, a lone developer, added his own sense of mystery and intrigue while drawing inspiration from the sense of wonder seen in exploration adventure games such as A Short Hike and Journey. Go North was designed to be an inclusive adventure from the beginning.
Breathe for a moment. Examine your surroundings. Discover hidden characters, objects, and environmental hazards around every corner as you go at your own speed without incurring penalties. Get to know intriguing people like the Maze Makers, who are in charge of the place’s sinister turns, and encounter other people attempting to navigate the mazes for themselves.
Discover lost artifacts that have been forgotten over time, infused with a blend of technology and magic. Fly up into the air in a bubble to get a firsthand look at the terrain, or send flying mystical birds into the skies to scout for paths. To get there, use magical powder to guide you to the exit, drop broken street signs as breadcrumbs, zoom about on a hoverboard, and use whatever other relics of civilization you come across. Just keep in mind that you should always head north.

Tade Ajiboye, owner of gazuntype stated, “Whether you’re looking for a relaxing experience or you’re a daring speedrunner, Go North has so much to offer. If you want to take all the time in the world to search every nook and cranny, you will be rewarded with rare items. If you want to find the nearest hoverboard and speed to the exit faster than anyone else, you can do that, too.”
Go North will be released on PC via Steam in the first quarter of 2026, with versions for the Xbox and Nintendo Switch to follow. You can play the brand-new demo right now and visit the official gazuntype website, follow Go North on YouTube and X.
