PIONER Preview for Steam Early Access

Introduction/Information about PIONER

The game PIONER is a game that was released in early access in December 2025. In this MMO FPS game, players will be dropped into a grim world where they will need to explore and scavenge in order to survive. Engage with different PvE missions as well as different PvP areas, crafting different items and finding different weapons as they play. Personally, I’ve never been too into MMO games. It’s hard for me to stay engaged with them for long periods of time. When playing the early access, it was a similar case where I couldn’t get into it. I still did enjoy parts of the game, exploring and collecting different items and materials, as well as defeating enemies to gain even more items and materials. After playing the early access of PIONER, I would say while I only had an alright time playing, I think players who really enjoy looting and crafting in order to become an unstoppable weapon will be able to enjoy this game to its fullest extent.

Gameplay

The gameplay for PIONER consists of players exploring, looting, and fighting off enemies. Starting out, players will get to create their own character. They can choose different hairstyles, facial features, etc. Once their character is all set to go they will start the tutorial, where players will go straight into the world, which has seen much better days. Starting out, players will get some info on what is happening, followed by getting a simple knife and some new clothes. Afterwards, they will explore along a small path. Along the way, the game teaches players the basic mechanics. How to move, jump, how stamina works, the basics of scavenging, and others. Along the way, players will get to see what the materials can be offered through exploring. In the tutorial, it mainly consists of basic crafting items and some healing items. Along the way, enemies will come out to attack. The basic enemies are fast, but easy to kill. As players play through, they will learn more about what has happened to the world around them, as well as meet people who have different jobs for them. For me, playing the game was fun at certain points, but as I mentioned before, I personally just couldn’t get into it.

Final thoughts

Overall, I believe the game PIONER, while it is not my kind of game, can be fun for people who truly enjoy games where you search and craft everything in order to become stronger. As I said, I’ve never been too into MMO games. I am unable to stay engaged for too long and this game was a similar case for me. I had enjoyable moments when playing, but overall, I did not care much about what I was doing. However, if you are the kind of player that does enjoy these kinds of games, then I would still consider adding this one to your list. The game is currently available in early access on Steam. The game also plans to release on PlayStation and Xbox in the future.
