We had the pleasure of interviewing Rocket League Jeremy Dunham, Community and Marketing Director of developer Psyonix (Nosgoth) about their fast paced action sports game.
What was your inspiration for developing Rocket League?
The fans!
Rocket League is the sequel to the 2008 PlayStation 3 game, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars and we STILL have a dedicated, playing fan base to this very day. When you have rabid fans that show you that kind of loyalty for almost seven years, you owe it to them to give them the sequel they want. That’s what Rocket League is — it’s our love letter to our fans.
Will Rocket League be making its way to any consoles besides PS4 and PC?
We’re PlayStation exclusive — the series started on PlayStation, so that’s where it belongs!
How many vehicles and stages will there be in the game?
We’ll have roughly 10 or more vehicles at launch and if the game is received well, we’ll continue to release more vehicles as DLC later on. Stages are set up in a similar way — we’ll have a handful of levels at launch and plan on releasing more after that as players demand it.
Any news on a release date more specific than Spring 2015?
Not yet. We’re working our tailpipes off to make that spring date, and there’s still a lot of work to do. Once we’re closing in on actual date, we’ll tell the world. We can’t wait for everyone to play our game, we really can’t!
Rocket League is a one- to eight-player action-sports game due in spring 2015. To learn more about Rocket League, please visit www.rocketleaguegame.com, ‘Like’ it on Facebook, and follow its development on Twitter @RocketLeague for all the latest developer updates and news.
