This is Gaming Cypher’s PC review of Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series Episode 1 by leading and award-winning developer and publisher of digital entertainment TellTale Games, and world-renowned game developer Mojang.
Right off the bat, you will get to select whether your main character, Jesse, is male or female. Your goal, while you adventure with your group of friends and a pet pig, is to save the world by tracking down a group of famous adventurers. For those who are familiar with TellTale games, you can expect to be watching scenes while being prompted to participate in conversations as well as clicking on action prompts.
Your conversations within the narrative will definitely affect the the way that the story unfolds as well as your friends reactions to you, so choose wisely.
The first episode will let you fight a few hordes of zombified characters, which you’ll find very easy to do so don’t worry about getting killed. You will also get to craft here and there. Overall, there will be a lot of watching with interim participation.
If you are looking for a major exploration and crafting experience, you won’t find it here. Rather, your areas will be restricted to the sequence of narrative events. There will be a great deal of watching, but we enjoyed the bits of humor peppered throughout the first episode.
Expect to play for about 2 – 2/12 hours and will keep the interest of both young and old alike. You can download Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 1 for $24.99 on Steam.
Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 1, true to TellTale fashion, is part of a five-episode series, which is now available for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC with mobile versions to follow.
We give a Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 1 a 4/5
