Wired Productions and LKA.it are thrilled to announce a new enhanced edition of The Town of Light, launching for the first time on Xbox One and PS4 and returning to PC later this year!
The Town of Light is a first-person psychological adventure game set in the Volterra Psychiatric Asylum. It’s a game that we have played for the past year. It’s haunting, difficult to stomach at moments – with the only horror being the truth behind the story. Although Renee is fictional, her struggles, her ordeals, her pain, are all based on extensive research into both patient accounts and well documented medical practices. History is filled with some shocking moments where we, as humans, through ignorance, misunderstanding or lack of compassion made deplorable decisions. The Town of Light forces you to discover that truth. It’s a game that creates emotion, creates thought and we hope, creates conversation.
In The Town of Light players explore what really happened inside the walls of the Asylum through the fictional eyes of Renee, an patient of the Ospedale Psichiatrico di Volterra, just 16 years old girl and suffering with the effects of mental illness. The adventure starts in present day, Renee is now back at the asylum, now derelict, to try and find her long forgotten memories. You will experience her fears and her personal trauma whilst exploring an environment full of real documents and real locations as they were back in time as well as they are today.
LKA.it recreated much of the huge complex at Volterra which was once home to over 5,000 patients, with an aim to immerse the player in an environment that will lead them to reflect on the true meaning of mental illness at times when not a lot was known.
