GAMEMAKER STUDIO 2 Update Includes French, German, and Spanish Languages

DUNDEE, SCOTLANDGameMaker Studio 2, the leading 2D game development engine, is updating its application IDE and manuals for French, German and Spanish speakers and readers, while further localization is expected to follow later in 2018. The move will broaden accessibility to GameMaker Studio 2, furthering YoYo Games’ mission to bring game development to all, while also signaling yet more commitment to the engine first launched in March 2017.

“We see the inclusion of French, German, and Spanish languages in both the software and accompanying manuals as a much needed step to further make games development as accessible as possible to everyone,” said James Cox, General Manager, YoYo Games. “Games development is a global pastime, and we want to make it as comfortable as possible for people to start making games. There are millions of people around the world who make games with GameMaker, and this update is about recognising the potential of people who want to make games in their first language. We need to make sure there are no barriers to accessing GameMaker Studio 2, and this update is part of that process.”

GameMaker Studio 2 is the latest version of the multi-million downloaded GameMaker 2D game development technology. With no barriers to entry and powerful functionality, the engine enables both experienced and novice video game developers to create the games they imagine. GameMaker Studio 2 combines easy-to-use drag-and-drop tools, tutorials and game assets with the powerful GameMaker Language (GML) and advanced, professional functionality, like the physics engine, particles and advanced shaders. GameMaker Studio 2 can be purchased for Windows desktop, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire, Microsoft UWP, HTML5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One from $39.
