Accepting applications for exhibition booths until June 1 (Friday)
The main visual for the TOKYO GAME SHOW 2018, the biggest gaming event in Japan held by Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) in cooperation with Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. (Nikkei BP,) has been chosen.
The main visual of TGS2018 was produced by Ippei Gyoubu, the Japanese famous illustrator, as usual. This work expresses “Welcome to the Next Stage,” the theme of TGS2018. As symbol of this event, it will appear in a variety of situations. Please look forward to seeing them.
Comment from the creator, Ippei Gyoubu
“I’m very happy to have been involved in such an honorable work, the main visual of the TGS, since 2010. 18 years ago, before becoming a freelance illustrator, I had been employed by SNK, video game company, and assigned to set up booth as a main designer in TGS2001. Then I felt very proud of myself to be engaged such a big event and it is still a special memory for me now. In addition, I liked the main visual of TGS1997 by Katsuhiro Otomo very much and aspired for it then.”
The work for creating main visual of TGS is so special for me and this work always gives me self-confidence. And above all, I’m proud that I can show my work every year to the seniors who took care of me at SNK.
It has been nine years since I have made the main visual of TGS for the first time. Since then, the environment surrounding the game has changed dramatically, and the game called “e-sports” is now regarded as one of professional sports. Nine years ago, I did not expect anything like this. What a surprise will the games give us in the future? What kind of world will the games show to us in the future? — With such expectations, I created this year’s main visual on the subject of “e-sports,” the most remarkable category of game now.
