Asymmetrical Co-op Espionage Thriller “Clandestine” Moves out of the Shadows on Steam
Take Control of a Spy or Hacker to Uncover the Post-Cold War Agent Conspiracy that Spans the Globe
Copenhagen, Denmark — November 6th, 2015 — Danish indie studio Logic Artists announced that its anticipated asymmetrical co-op spy thriller Clandestine, is now available on Steam to players worldwide. Set in the tense period after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Clandestine offers players the ability to act as either Martin, an American hacker, or Katya, a Russian spy in a cooperative joint effort to infiltrate corporate headquarters around the world. The hacker and spy team must use their unique skills harmoniously to lift the curtain of conspiracy and discover who is behind the suspicious murders of former Cold War operatives.
“Clandestine offers a unique take on the spy stealth experience with a truly original cooperative experience”, said Jonas Wæver, Creative Director at Logic Artists. “After reflecting on player feedback since our launch on Steam Early Access last fall and a series of updates, we feel it is time for players to dive into this globetrotting espionage adventure”.
Set in 1996, five years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, a string of accidents and murders that have gone unnoticed by the public, have put the world of espionage on high alert. Former Cold War operatives, believing their cover intact, are being assassinated around the globe. Soviet and NATO spies are being targeted indiscriminately, causing turmoil and suspicion on all sides.
Clandestine is a truly co-operative espionage action game. Set in a faithful recreation of the 1990’s; Clandestine tasks one player to take the role of Katya Kozlova, an inexperienced yet ambitious Russian field agent. Her partner is Martin Symborski, an American hacker providing tactical assistance in a variety of ways. Inspired by the Ethan Hunt & Luther Stickell/Benji dynamic of the Mission: Impossible film franchise, Katya and Martin must play to their individual strengths and work together in a true cooperative fashion to complete their mission.
From today, players can finally experience the complete story of Clandestine with all 17 game levels as well as extra locations to visit, including the headquarters and a safe house. The Campaign Missions feature a branching narrative and cooperative social engineering mechanics. However for those who want to bypass the intricate game plot, Challenge Maps offer replayable randomised side-missions with minimal narrative context. In addition, players will now face more tactical stealth and combat variety with mercenaries and spec ops joining along the enemy lines. While a loadout selection menu, melee takedowns, and cover system complete the spy character experience, a variety of hacking tools, together with a System Administrator enemy in the hacking system, make the hacker’s role in the game as exciting as operating in the field.
