Biotope, by developer MBL Development and publisher 2tainment, is a very realistic aquarium simulator that has stunning graphics that are pretty astounding. The entire experience of it all is very calming and soothing, as I was playing it I didn’t have any feelings of stress that I usually get when first starting a simulator game. There’s just so much going on but this made it really easy.
Gameplay: The tutorial is pretty short and straightforward; there really aren’t any confusing mechanics and you have 4 starter aquarium kits to start from:
Tutorial Tank: Tutorial, start off with money and directions; Empty: Start your new aquarium from scratch; Amazon: Low water hardness tank, fully stocked, start off with some money, and Malawi Tank: fully stocked tank, hard water hardness, and start off with lesser money than the Amazon tank.
In terms of gameplay, I must remind you that it is a simulator so if you’re expecting more from it please keep your expectations to a minimum. Everything moves in real time and you have the option of fast-forwarding. You get to go shopping and provide decorations such as plants and rocks to make your tank more lively, purchase a variety of fish, manage your tanks PH levels and also the fishes stress levels, so don’t put fish that hate each other in the same tank or else they’ll go bye-bye. Biotope offers in-game quests as well to keep your tank life busy but all in all that’s pretty much it for the gameplay.
The graphics are great, the music is relaxing, and the game isn’t heavy at all on your computer, I played this game on a Dell Inspiron laptop and it ran great. Biotope is still new and there are some kinks to work out but overall it’s a fun, relaxing game to play. Maybe the developers will think about adding more tanks to play with since the title still is early access.

Hello there, I got into video games at a very young age and my first console was actually the Super Nintendo, I still have it to this day and have quite a collection of games for it. I play a lot of games ranging from different genres like fighting games, i.e Tekken and Street Fighter, RPG's i.e Dark Souls and Final Fantasy, side-scrollers, visual novels, MMO's, Shooters, and Horror. The more violent and story drove the better!. But, as I mentioned before my range for videogame genres has no bounds, I'll play anything as long as it's fun!
