Many of the World’s Best North American, European and Asia-Pacific Teams to Compete June 16-18 for a piece of $200,000 as part of CWL Season’s $4 Million Total Prize Pool

Action-Packed Weekend Features Over 120 Teams Battling to be Named CWL Anaheim Open Champ; Splyce’s “Bance” and Luminosity’s “Octane” Host Live CWL All-Star Match Draft

SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– A fierce weekend featuring open competition for the Call of Duty World League Presented by PlayStation 4 (CWL) has kicked-off this weekend at the CWL Anaheim Open, hosted by Major League Gaming Corp (MLG). Additionally, the first CWL all-star match at an open bracket event will pit two of the biggest names in the league in a live-draft, while scores of teams will compete for the title of CWL Anaheim Open Champion. All of this takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center through this weekend as top teams from North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) will compete for their share of the $200,000 event prize pool, with the finals taking place on Sunday, June 18.

As the CWL Championship this August draw closer, the competitive action continues to heat up. CWL Anaheim features over 120 teams from around the world in open play, all vying for one of only four spots in the pool group finals. Four teams from the open tournament will join previously qualified pro teams – including OpTic Gaming, FaZe Clan and Splyce – as well as the four winning teams from the Relegation Qualifier in competition for their chance to be named CWL Anaheim Open Champion.

Additionally, Thursday’s Relegation Qualifier winners Cloud9, BitterSweet, Fnatic and Red Reserve move on to compete at the CWL Global Pro League Stage 2, later this month. CWL Global Pro League Stage 2 competition begins June 30 in Columbus, Ohio, and will include 16 teams from around the world. These teams will compete for a chance at their share of the $700,000 CWL Global Pro League Stage 2 prize pool as part of the overall $4 million prize pool for the 2017 CWL season.

CWL Anaheim celebrates the best competitors of the CWL Global Pro League Stage 1 with Splyce’s Ben “Bance” Bance and Luminosity’s Sam “Octane” Larew drafting players live to compete in an All-Star match, set to be played on June 16.

For those interested in attending CWL Anaheim, General Admission (GA), three-day tickets, are currently available online for $49.99. The tickets will also be offered on a first-come, first-served basis at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Activision and MLG (both part of Activision Blizzard) join forces with PlayStation 4 to bring Call of Duty World League to a global audience, with the goal of providing fans the best eSports experience at live events and broadcast on mlg.tv/callofduty.
