Don’t clam up on me
Video games can be an escape to some. Visual and interactive stories that allow the player to temporarily leave their everyday lives to enter fantastic worlds of imagination and entertainment. This manifests in many forms, ranging from slaying mighty dragons to constructing magnificent structures to battling ninety-nine opponents all in a pursuit of glory and victory. Sometimes that journey takes you into the daily life of a clam man. Clam man, developed and published by indie developer Team Clam, offers an in-depth virtual experience in of the life of Clam man through a point-and-click choose your own adventure game.
It’s a clam eat clam world
One of the most dazzling things about this game is the way it is able to create an immersive, logical, well-developed and deep world. Characters aside, the amount of detail and world building that this game presents is actually quite surprising. Each scene setting is chock full of interesting items, dialogue, and fun small interactions that drive the player to interact with as much as they can, so that they can find all the secrets there is to find. Almost all objects in the scene have an interaction or interesting dialogue line, and the combination with the characters and personalities make every minute of the game entertaining.
Featuring a colorful crustacean cast
The other fantastic part about Clam man is Clam man himself. And all of the other characters in the cast. All other forms of sea life, the player gets the honor and pleasure of seeing what the Office would be like if all the characters were aquatic animals. Each individual in Clam man’s life harbors vibrant and distinct personalities. The way that they interact with Clam man himself show a lot of eye-brow raising and hilarious conversations, adding more life to this game. One thing that did stand out to me was the fact that two crabs that Clam man knows are somewhat of jerks, which begs the borderline offensive question, are all crabs jerks?
Clam man’s legacy
All in all, Clam man is a short and sweet humorous venture into the mundane life of one such clam man. The cast of characters mingling with Clam man and the level of lighthearted humor make for a good time. The detail in the backgrounds and lovely design of the characters add to what is a very enjoyable game.
