LOS ANGELES – Following a substantial update for Summoners War on June 13 to mark its fifth anniversary, the mobile RPG from Com2uS went on to take the top spot for Apple App Store sales in Europe, South America and more. In addition, the game earned a top three spot in sales for the RPG genre thanks to strong performances in North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
“With a massive update just in time for the game’s fifth anniversary, we continue to give fans around the world reasons to love and play Summoners War as they catapult the game to the top of the charts yet again,” said Kyu Lee, President of GAMEVIL COM2US. “As the recent South Korea-Sweden eSports collaborative indicates, the game continues to be loved by players all over the world.”
As the game celebrates its fifth anniversary, Com2uS is revealing details that show the ongoing worldwide popularity of Summoners War. The game has been ranked No. 1 in 83 countries, downloaded more than 100 million times and totaled more than $1 billion in sales.
The game was recently featured as one of the headline games at the first South Korea-Sweden eSports A-Match, held at Ericsson Studio in Stockholm on June 14 and attended by President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea and King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. Com2uS also introduced brand new content to Summoners War, adding the “Dimension Hole” as well as the “Secondary Awakening” system.
The Dimension Hole is a mode that places restrictions on the Monsters that players are allowed to use, such as only being able to play Monsters that are four stars and under, or Monsters of identical attributes. This allows both new and existing players to have fun devising fresh and creative strategies for battle. The Secondary Awakening system strengthens 2-3 star Monsters, breathing fresh life into them and increasing their usage.
Summoners War is available via the App Store and Google Play.
