Hello to all of my fellow quarantined gamers! If you are looking for a wide variety of free games to test and kill some time on in the next few weeks, look no further than the 100% free to play alpha version of Core! Brought to you by Manticore Games, Core is a platform that aims to let players become developers of their own games and test them out with a greater community, and the invite is “open” to all.
Do not go into Core expecting to play the next Tom Clancy game, but go in ready to have a laid back and fun time with a swathe of games to test out and play by yourself or with others. From a World of Warcraft styled open world to paintball, and even to pirates and sharpshooters, if Core does not have the game you are looking to frolic around in, well, you are more than welcome to create it and share with the world!
Currently containing games made by Manticore themselves as well as alpha testers, the big incentive to use Core is to test your creativity and developmental might in forming your own games and world. Given the current events going on, parents, if you are home with your families and reading this, and your sons or daughters have even an inkling of interest in creating games or working with computer technology, or they dream about doing so in the future, it might not be a bad idea to bring up the idea to them and let them try it out for themselves.
As mentioned, this is less of a triple-a studio release than it is a public playground for them to run around in and play with other kids in the park. The name of the games these days tend to be Minecraft, Fortnite, and Roblox, so it should not be entirely unfamiliar territory too. This goes for adults as well! If you want to at least try putting together your own creations as you would build something out of a batch of Legos!

Core is available here, so if you are looking for a lighthearted good time at a great cost for the foreseeable future, check out Manticore Game’s online playground today!
Your local neighborhood nutjob, gamer, and teacher! I'm an avid fan of many genres such as platformers, shooters, horror, etc. I am also an avid tabletop gamer - hugely into the worlds of Warhammer and all of their spinoffs. I'm a big believer in being objective - even if something is not my cup of tea, I want to talk about it on the objective level - is it well made, crafted with love, and with care for the fans? If so, that's a good game in my book for someone and well worth their hard earned dollarydoos!
