MetaArcade, the developer of interactive fiction games, successfully launched its new narrative horror game, Cthulhu Chronicles, on the App Store last week. Created in partnership with Chaosium, creator of the popular tabletop RPG game, Call of Cthulhu, the game distills the essence of the award-winning roleplaying system into a story-driven experience for mobile gamers, with individual stories forming a larger campaign set in 1920s New England.
Cthulhu Chronicles shipped with five of the nine adventures that comprise the game’s first campaign, Investigations in Lovecraft Country. This week, MetaArcade launched the sixth scenario and is revealing the schedule for the remaining three, with one coming out each week between now and Gen Con:
The Good Professor: released this week on July 17
- Get ready to meet your match! The Good Professor is an original scenario that builds on everything you have experienced so far in Cthulhu Chronicles. Tensions are rising and your decision-making skills will be put to the test.
Miskatonic University: releasing 11 AM PT on Tuesday July 24
- It’s time for questions to be answered and secrets to be revealed! In this original story, you head back to college to study up on life-threatening mysteries. The truths you may uncover are as unusual as the faculty.
Crimson Letters: releasing 11 AM PT on Tuesday July 31
- The playing field has shifted, and now players must navigate the dangerous minefield of… a dinner party? In this story-based on the Call of Cthulhu scenario of the same name, you will be forced to reckon with a different side of Arkham’s underbelly. Surviving Mr. Wick’s party is the only way to get the Crimson Letters, and it won’t be easy.
Blackwater Creek: releasing 11 AM PT on Thursday August 2
- The road ends here. Blackwater Creek doesn’t like visitors, but that’s the least of your worries in this adapted Call of Cthulhu scenario. Everything has led up to this. We hope you’re ready.
Cthulhu Chronicles is available for iOS as a free download with in-app purchases.
