PlayStation 4 Version to Feature Online Play
SYDNEY – Feb. 1, 2017 – Death Squared, a cooperative puzzler from SMG Studio that follows a team of robots escaping a treacherous science facility, will test friendships and problem-solving skills when it releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac on March 14, 2017. The PlayStation 4 version will feature online multiplayer via Share Play functionality.
Guide teams of two or four robots to their respective color-coded waypoints in increasingly-complex levels. But beware! Insidious death traps litter the way and, when tripped by hasty sprinters or uncommunicative friends, quickly send the cuboid companions to the big scrapyard in the sky.
If one robot meets their death, the entire squad returns to the beginning of the level. Players must work together to learn each stage through trial and error, putting newly-gained knowledge of a level’s hidden obstacles into action.
In addition to the two-player story mode, Death Squared includes “party chaos” challenges specifically designed for groups of four. A single-player can also enjoy the traditionally two-player story mode, and two-players can tackle the “party chaos” challenges, by controlling two robots with one controller.
Death Squared will be playable at RTX Sydney, where SMG Studio will debut all-new stages and exclusive content for both the game’s Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.
“Death Squared began as a simple cooperative concept focused on minimal direction and having players answer a simple question; What do we do?” said Patrick Cook, lead designer, SMG Studio. “It’s been a pleasure building that idea into a game that can be enjoyed by individuals, groups, and people of all ages and skill levels. The response from fans has been wonderful and we’re eager to finally let people play it at home.”
