Digital Eclipse Releases TETRIS FOREVER’s” Biggest Update to Date

Digital Eclipse released Tetris Forever‘s largest upgrade to date! The patch adds two new classic MS-DOS games, including the 1991 cult favorite Super Tetris, and provides significant enhancements for Tetris Time Warp. Tetris Forever now has 21 playable games thanks to this upgrade!

Tetris Time Warp‘s enthusiastic reception by the competitive community prompted a number of control and mapping updates to satisfy competitive requirements, as well as a number of bug repairs and quality enhancements based on player input. With the addition of levels 16 through 30, players seeking a more difficult game can now compete with single-player Tetris Time Warp, which previously peaked at level 15. In the meantime, a new Shield Tetrimino power-up in Time Warp’s multiplayer mode can stop players from Time Warping one another!

Tetris Time Warp Update Key Features:

  • Blast Off To Level 30: Before, Tetris Time Warp’s single-player modes peaked at Level 15, but now they reach Level 30! Are you able to play at even faster speeds? You won’t be able to make Matrix-clearing cascades with the Time Warp Tetrimino piece after Level 20, as it will no longer have the golden Tetrimino. Additionally, Tetriminos’ lockdown speed will significantly improve beginning on Level 28.
  • Time Warp Shield: The Time Warp Tetriminos now have a new ability in Tetris Time Warp’s multiplayer mode: Shield! When the shield design is visible, you can acquire a shield that will prevent other players from sending you into a Time Warp by clearing a line that includes a Time Warp Tetrimino. It is used once and then vanishes.
  • 1989 Mode Upgrades: Do you like playing Tetris with chiptune music and black-and-white graphics? Tetris Time Warp’s 1989 Mode, a single-player mode, now offers a number of improvements and additional features. Turning off “Modern Gameplay” will allow you to play games that are more historically realistic. In addition, you have the option to play the game with 18 rows in the Matrix rather than the 20 rows that are used nowadays.
  • Take the 40-Line Challenge: Try to clear 40 lines as fast as you can to commemorate Tetris’ 40th anniversary. Both 1989 and Modern modes are playable.
  • Options, Options, Options: You can alter Tetris Time Warp’s graphics, music effects, and gameplay to your preference with a comprehensive Options menu. Modify your gameplay with additional features like the Initial Hold and Initial Rotation systems, Diagonals, and more. You can also turn on or off certain graphic effects.
  • To enhance the Tetris Time Warp experience, numerous more bug repairs, adjustments, and small modifications have been made to all modes.

New MS-DOS Games Added to Tetris Forever:

  • Super Tetris: This early attempt at a Tetris “sequel” was released by Spectrum Holobyte in 1991. The gameplay is very different; when a game starts, the Matrix is half-full of trash, and players can locate power-ups hidden in the trash by earning and using Bombs to empty up the spaces. Two players can play in the same matrix in both cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes!
  • Tetris (AcademySoft) v. 3.12: The final version of Tetris developed in the Soviet Union in the Academy of Sciences, converted from Alexey Pajitnov’s original Pascal code by Vadim Gerasimov, is a historically significant addition. It was introduced in 1988 and is noteworthy for having Phantom mode, which makes all O-Tetriminos (square-shaped pieces) invisible!

Additional Updates:

  • The Electronika 60 version of Tetris has been recreated with improved gameplay behaviors that are even more historically true to the original game.
  • Korean and Traditional Chinese language support is now available.
  • To make the gameplay better, numerous more little adjustments, bug fixes, and improvements have been implemented.

Tetris Forever is available for $34.99 USD on PC via Steam and GOG, and on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.

Tetris Forever’s standard physical versions for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch will be on sale on March 31. Later this year, the collector’s and deluxe editions will be shipped. All physical Tetris Forever editions will be available for preorder starting on Tuesday, February 25 at limitedrungames.com and atari.com in the US, as well as on Amazon.com and a few other websites worldwide.
