Disintegration is a sci-fi first-person shooter and real time strategy game, developed by V1 Interactive and published by Private Division. I love playing some Real Time Strategy games and the gameplay style has been a specific for such games; especially if someone has played Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun they will relate – story telling and strategic gameplay at the same time.
Disintegration provides the same feel of RTS but with the twist of FPS within there. The world has a new technology that lets people who sign up for Disintegration to have their consciousness in brain extracted from the human body and transferred into an artificial robotic body. The reason for the transference is to allow humans to survive any kind of pandemics, including disease and hunger, and makes the body survive longer. Disintegration starts with a long tutorial that gives a good understanding of the game’s mechanics.
Character development is good and interactions with all the characters gets better with further gameplay. Each mission provides challenges and assists characters that the player can control. Each character has unique skills that players can utilize according to the situation. They can auto move but also act according to how the player can choose and can be ordered to open certain boxes and interact with special items.. Missions are amazing where you have to move around and can control the character but also help out with shooting.
The protagonist has the ability to travel on a Gravcycle, more like a Sparrow from Destiny, but with weapons and other skill abilities attached in there. Gravcycle is like a king’s throne where we can utilize the weapons and order the troops according to the situation. The Gravcycle has different weapons that can be switched to utilize the healing ability for the troops. After attacking all the mobs during a mission, each mob drops the scraps that can be collected to be utilized later. Also Gravcycle has a scanner that is very helpful to identify interactive items and mobs in the level.
We played Disintegration on PC with an Ultrawide resolution, which made the first person view even more amazing. The smoothness of the controls and hovering above the troops as well as increasing or decreasing the height just felt so comfortable. In addition, the graphics of the game are amazing.
Overall, Disintegration has a great look and feel and the gameplay controls give an amazing touch. However, the story and some repetitive battles tires out the mission overtime. Troops felt like paper as they kept on running on their own sometimes and got their health depleted. I would rate Disintegration 7 stars out of 10.
