Electronic Arts Inc., commemorates the end of the exciting Formula 1 2023 season and looks back at the Year on the Track in F1 23. EA SPORTS examined in-game data revealing fans’ favorite teams, drivers, locations and popular items in the official game of the FIA Formula One World Championship. F1 23 players had a busy year, completing 73 million races, 1 billion laps and racing wheel-to-wheel across 5.25 billion kilometers.
Three-time World Champion and EA SPORTS Ambassador, Max Verstappen, is the most chosen and played driver, followed by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, and F1 23 Ambassador, Charles Leclerc. In line with this, Red Bull was the most popular team on the grid among players, with Mercedes and Scuderia Ferrari in close second and third.
In-game data revealed Bahrain, Melbourne and Austria as the favorite race locations with players opting for traditional tracks ahead of street circuits. Over 4.5 million red flags were triggered, making the races more exciting and strategic for players, and there were over 900 thousand attempts at Pro Challenges, where fans attempted to beat the lap times set by actual F1 drivers.
“Max Verstappen’s exceptional performance and Red Bull’s dominance on the track has marked this year’s season. It is very interesting to see how this has also been reflected in our game through players’ choices,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “It’s extremely gratifying to see the intense level of global engagement in F1 23 and how well-received new features like red flags and Pro Challenges have been. We look forward to another year of high-speed competition and providing even more engaging experiences for our dedicated players around the world.”
