Eden Rising is an open world tower defense game by developers Nvizzio Creations and Meridian4 and publisher The Wall Productions Inc.. There is a lot that needs to be worked on in terms of gameplay but there are still a few good things about it. For an early access title it’s not a bad game but once you play for a couple of hours you realize most of the game is pay to play. (Since this review, the game has launched out of Early Access)
There’s no story so it’s hard to get into it from the get go unless playing in co-op mode, and even then it becomes boring because most maps and enemies are reused and you are constantly grinding for materials to upgrade your gear; which also look similar to previous outfits. The biggest issue for me while playing were the controls. They felt too clunky and the action buttons assigned were too far away from each other for me to press while trying to dodge enemies. For example: the punch button was assigned “shift” & “L”, those are way too far apart for me to press I’d have to look at my keyboard just to use it and I would get hit by an enemy in the process of taking the time to search for it. I wanted to reassign the buttons so it would suit the gameplay better for myself but every button by default is assigned the ‘L’ key no matter what, so if I wanted to change the punch button to just ‘Tab’ for example, the ‘L’ key would be assigned to it by default. So no matter what buttons I change the ‘L’ would go along with it. It was the most annoying thing out of the entire game because there are so many commands that are placed far away from one another it becomes a bit irritating when fighting enemies.
There’s not much to defend and the bosses in this game are lacking, overall it feels kind of rushed since the enemies are repetitive. There’s not much of a customization option for your character and the only character available to play as is female. There are also problems with the loading times and some bugs that occurred during gameplay such as the screen suddenly freezing or running into some invisible walls. The game is light, however, and it won’t take a toll on your PC, which is an upside.
The visuals and concept of the world are visually appealing and there’s much more the developers could go off of, it’s just that they didn’t focus too much on the gameplay-at least for the free version that is. Most of the mission-based content seems to be apart of the DLC which is a bit unfair to the free users. The game like I said before just feels a bit too rushed. It’s not a terrible game, it just needed to be executed better is all, overall I give Eden Rising a 6/10.

Steam Review
Hello there, I got into video games at a very young age and my first console was actually the Super Nintendo, I still have it to this day and have quite a collection of games for it. I play a lot of games ranging from different genres like fighting games, i.e Tekken and Street Fighter, RPG's i.e Dark Souls and Final Fantasy, side-scrollers, visual novels, MMO's, Shooters, and Horror. The more violent and story drove the better!. But, as I mentioned before my range for videogame genres has no bounds, I'll play anything as long as it's fun!
