Evil Dead Pinball Gameplay Trailer:
Evil Dead Pinball Featurette by Straight Down the Middle and Flip N’ Out Pinball
Words will not do the gameplay justice. Just take a long look at the videos above!
Spooky Pinball, Inc’s Evil Dead is primed to be the hottest new commodity in pinball. I spoke a fair bit about it yesterday but I would rather let one of the designers, Corwin “Bug” Emery, speak for it himself. Below are a few select notes from the Q&A session from November 22nd’s stream on Twitch and Facebook. Note: Paraphrased for convenience.
- Bruce Campbell was ton of fun to work with, his enthusiasm was incredible, especially when we had him record an additional 30 pages of dialogue. Some of it was him having a ton of fun, making fun of the wackiness of it, and throwing his own touch in for everything. It was an incredible experience.
- The movement of Ash’s possessed hand will vary based on the mode and include various different scoring opportunities in and out of game modes. It can tuck itself up so you cannot hit it, but will return when the player hits enough drop targets.
- The lower playfield has a timer and/or drain limit depending on the mode to keep the flow going.
- The license was split between multiple studios for both films, and a lot of time and effort was put into getting everything together for both movies.
- Army of Darkness will have references via callouts, but for the sake of creating the ultimate Evil Dead world under glass, it was decided to stick to the cabin in the woods setting.
- There will be a family setting to cut out vulgar language.
- The entire development cycle took about 4 years.
- This will be the first Spooky Pinball game with pop bumpers
- The magnet in the backside will grab the ball and the VUK will bring it into the cabin.
- The double barrel shooter lane can load up to two balls for launch at the same time.
- The good Linda/bad Linda will attempt to trick you like Deadites will in the movies. For example, she can lie to you about a ball save being lit, steal an extra ball for you, etc. There will be pros and cons to having her set to good or bad mode.
- The main game modes will be split four and four between scenes from both movies.
- Ash will progressively go more insane due to the Necronomicon’s influence, affecting the status of the game.
- The pop up deadite mechs are inspired by the all-time pinball classic, Medieval Madness.
- The central target will choose between pop up shots and “dragging the ball” down to the cellar.
- Lara Sluyter, the voice of Cheryl, is a voice actress based on YouTube known as Laura’s Horror Sounds. Check out her excellent voice work here! https://www.youtube.com/@LARASHORRORSOUNDS
- Matt “Count D” Montgomery, longtime Spooky Pinball associate, returns to do the music.
- You can spawn more jackpots by rapidly hitting the action button on the lockdown bar and hitting the shotgun shells to load them during Boom Stick Multiball.
- The “sling flipper” will be fast paced and you’ll be able to hit the hand in various ways.
- This will be the first Spooky game available in collector’s edition only – as the team felt that anything lesser would take too much away from the game.
That should give a good quick overview for now – I would rather have you spend time watching the excellent videos crafted for the game’s release. You can also catch a replay of the Q&A session on Spooky Pinball’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SpookyPinball) and on Bug’s Scream n’ Stream Twitch TV Channel (https://www.twitch.tv/bugs_scream_n_stream) as well as view more photo updates on their Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/spookypinballofficial/). In the meantime, better start loading your boomstick and gassing up your chainsaw!

Your local neighborhood nutjob, gamer, and teacher! I'm an avid fan of many genres such as platformers, shooters, horror, etc. I am also an avid tabletop gamer - hugely into the worlds of Warhammer and all of their spinoffs. I'm a big believer in being objective - even if something is not my cup of tea, I want to talk about it on the objective level - is it well made, crafted with love, and with care for the fans? If so, that's a good game in my book for someone and well worth their hard earned dollarydoos!
