Fault: Elder Orb, by developer/publisher Strange Matter Studios, is a game that is out for PC via Steam Early Access. This game is a third person MOBA game (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). In this game, players compete in teams of five to traverse the map and take out the enemy team’s core in their base. I usually don’t play these games (mostly because of getting paired with people since I am not the best teammate), but from what I have played, Fault: Elder Orb is pretty good for a MOBA game.
Gameplay
The gameplay for Fault: Elder Orb, to me, is somewhat complicated, but that is most likely because I don’t play MOBA games. However, the goal for the game is simple. The player’s team must destroy the enemy’s base by destroying the core of the base. To put it in more familiar terms, the game plays similarly to League of Legends. Each player on each team has to pick a hero with different roles to fulfill when playing in a match. Players can choose from five different types of heroes. The Offlane heroes are meant to go more on the offensive in the offensive lanes. The Midlane heroes are meant to attack the midlane of the area. The Carry heroes are heroes that can determine whether the team wins or not. These roles should be played by players that can handle the responsibility of winning the game for their team. The Support heroes are heroes who focus on healing and buffing their teammates. The Jungle heroes are heroes who specialize in the areas of the map that are outside the lanes. With these roles, the teams must work together to defeat their opponent. Of course, the players can’t just rely on their teammates to win the game. The player needs to be able to upgrade their hero and gain items to get the upper hand in battle. Players can gain experience and gold by killing the opponent’s monsters that spawn on the map. With the gold, they can buy items and upgrades to make their hero stronger. These upgrades include new moves their heroes can do to help the team win the game. I believe Fault: Elder Orb plays pretty well for a MOBA, and it seems like it’s going to get better as the development team continues to work on the game. The game also seems to be going in the right direction in terms development wise, so I don’t think there is anything to fear.
Final thoughts
Overall, the game Fault: Elder Orb is a pretty good MOBA game. Again, I do not really play these kinds of games, but to my knowledge, it plays pretty well for these types of games. If you are the kind of person who enjoys MOBA games and wants to add another to your list, then I would recommend playing Fault: Elder Orb.
