Flock is more than just a game; it’s an invitation to experience the dizzying freedom of flight and to delight in the sheer joy of catching an updraft. Developed by the creative minds behind “Hohokum,” Flock promises a whimsical escape into a truly gorgeous land filled with serene exploration and a charming menagerie of colorful creatures.
From the moment players begin, the game creates a sense of wonder. Players find themselves adrift amidst a billowing ocean of clouds, floating along with a sense of joy and delight. Eventually, players will head towards the only real landmark that can be discerned, two large round tree shapes. Flying towards these will lead to a small encampment where players will find their Aunt and Uncle, along with a very helpful Knitter. The (very) loose story is that players are helping their Aunt to identify and catalog all of the beautiful and strange creatures of the island into a field guide.
That’s it. Players won’t need to worry about the stress of fighting zombies or managing resources; they will instead spend their hours floating on the breeze looking for little birbs and occasionally moving a floating sheep from one grassy mound to another.
While the game’s visuals are breathtaking, its true beauty lies in the immersive experience it offers. Gameplay is straightforward, with intuitive controls designed to empower players to truly engage with the world. Initially driven by a desire to reach objectives quickly, players soon discover the joy of experimentation—riding updrafts to dizzying heights, navigating tunnels with exhilarating speed, or simply basking in the serenity of cloud-hugging flights.
The demo only featured solo modes, but developers promise an even more joyful experience in their co-op mode, where players can twist and turn with their best friend or favorite cousin.
Whether played solo or in co-op mode, Flock invites players to unwind and immerse themselves in a tranquil experience. With tasks designed for relaxed enjoyment rather than intense focus, the game encourages players to simply enjoy the journey, much like birdwatchers on a leisurely stroll.
So, spread your wings, Flock releases Spring 2024. You can wishlist as well as play the Flock demo for PC via Steam.

I'm a completionist gamer who just needs to find that one last object and clear that final dungeon. I love all video games, from open world sandboxes on a console to a mindless match three on my phone. In addition to gaming and writing, I am a graduate student working on a thesis about the ancient Icelandic Sagas. Feel free to ask me anything about Vikings.
