The preparations for gamescom 2018 (August 21-25, 2018) are in full swing and it is already evident now that the world’s largest event for computer and video games is continuing on its success course. The early bird application phase for exhibitors closed on 22 February. The results are impressive: In comparison to the same period last year 13% more applications have been received. There is also an almost ten percent increase in the amount of exhibition space booked. With already 16 country pavilions confirmed, gamescom’s degree of internationality has also increased compared to last year’s level.
Among others the following international market leaders and renowned companies from the computer and video industry have secured their place at the Cologne fair grounds at an early stage: astragon Entertainment, Bandai Namco, Bethesda Softworks, CD PROJEKT, Deep Silver (Koch Media), ELECTRONIC ARTS, Epic Games International, Gigabyte Technologie, Google, Kalypso Media, Konami, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Square Enix, TECHLAND, THQ Nordic, Wargaming, Warner Bros. Entertainment and Omen by HP. eSports is also even more prominently represented at gamescom compared to the previous years too: eSports suppliers such as ALL ESPORTS, ESL/Turtle Entertainment, Gamer Legion and Webedia Gaming are all going to be present at the world’s largest event for computer and video games. The latest hardware trends will also be represented at gamescom 2018. Among others Asus Computer, Alternate, Caseking, DXRacer Marketing Europe, Medion, Razer, Roccat, Trust Gaming and Zeus Hardware have confirmed their participation at gamescom 2018. There are many highlights of smaller teams at gamescom again this year including the Indie Arena Booth and many other games of independent games developers. Further growth is also being recorded in the fan shop arena: In comparison to the same period last year 65 percent more exhibitors have already registered for this section. In 2018, a host of offers, events and new products are therefore awaiting gaming fans from all over the world again in 2018.
Internationality on target
With exhibitors from around 40 countries after the expiry of the early bird period gamescom is once again underlining its position as Europe’s leading business platform for the games industry. In total, 16 country pavilions have already registered including participations from Belgium, Brazil, China, England, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Canada, Korea, Malta, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Taiwan. This once more underlines the great international appeal of gamescom.
In 2017 gamescom set new records in all key areas. Around 355,000 visitors from 106 countries were on location in Cologne, 30,700 of whom were trade visitors. 919 exhibitors from 54 countries were represented at the world’s biggest event for computer and video games in 2017!
