More area, more exhibitors and more visitors. gamescom 2017 ended with a new record of around 355,000 visitors. The interest in the world’s largest event for computer and video games remains unabated. Now games fans from around the world can ensure their participation in gamescom 2018 (open to all from 22 to 25 August): the online Ticket Shop is open as of 1 March 2018. For the first time, a ticket will be offered this year especially for school classes from federal states in which school holidays do not coincide with gamescom. Overview of gamescom tickets

Day tickets for private visitors

Sold out in advance sales was the way of things for gamescom 2016 and 2017. Day tickets for private visitors (public days: Wednesday, 22 August to Saturday, 25 August 2018) are thus also available for advance sale this year only as long as supplies last. Limited early bird contingents are also available for all gamescom days. Interested parties can thus secure their day ticket for gamescom 2018 at especially low prices. Once the early bird contingents for a day have sold out, the advance sale prices automatically apply. Interested games fans can purchase a maximum of five tickets daily. As in past years, the following generally applies: private visitor day tickets for gamescom are available for advance sale only as long as supplies last. Box office sales on location only take place when the day tickets in the online Ticket Shop haven’t already sold out in advance.

Pre-entry tickets: limited contingent

For gamescom 2018 there is also a limited contingent of pre-entry tickets available in the gamescom Ticket Shop. Holders of such a ticket will already be admitted to the entertainment area on the public days on Wednesday (22 August) and Thursday (23 August) as of 9:00 a.m., and thus an hour before all other private visitors. The following also applies for the pre-entry tickets: they are only available as long as supplies last. Holders of a valid pre-entry ticket are asked to use the Entrances North and South and to follow the “Pre-entry ticket” signage.

Family tickets: reserved contingent

The familiy & friends section (hall 10.2) welcomes all families. There is a contingent of family tickets reserved in the online Ticket Shop until 17 August 2018 in order to also allow a “relatively spontaneous” visit to gamescom. The family ticket is oriented to families with a maximum of two parents or legal guardians and at least two children between the ages of 7 and 11. This constellation is the prerequisite for the purchase of the family ticket. The family ticket purchased in the gamescom online Ticket Shop is exchanged at the box office on location for individual tickets. The check for a valid family constellation also takes place here. To allow quick access to the family & friends area, we recommend using the Entrance South.

New: limited contingent of school class tickets

gamescom time is also holiday time, but not everywhere in Germany. In order to also enable school classes outside of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia to undertake an excursion to gamescom, a limited contingent of school class tickets will be offered this year for the first time. For the price of 6.50 EUR / person (pupils and accompanying persons), gamescom can be visited on the public days of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (22, 23 and 24 August) with this ticket. Content of special relevance for education and media education, such as the gamescom campus, the Youth Forum NRW or gamescom jobs & careers enable the linking of teaching content and fun in the context of this type of field trip. Interested schools and teachers can contact the private visitor hotline or use a special e-mail mailbox (schulbestellung@gamescom.de) and will then be informed of the necessary steps. It is possible to order school class tickets until 31 July 2018. At least ten people (incl. accompanying persons) per class must participate. A teacher may only place an order for a complete group. However, the contingent of school class tickets is also limited: they are only available as long as supplies last. The reservation of tickets is not possible.

Trade visitor tickets

Trade visitor tickets are also available online as of 1 March 2018 at www.gamescom-cologne.com In addition to day tickets, 3-day tickets for trade visitors will also be offered in the online Ticket Shop of gamescom in accordance with the schedule of the business area (Tuesday, 21 August to Thursday, 23 August). Trade visitors also have the possibility to acquire their admission ticket at reduced prices: limited early bird ticket contingents have been reserved for all trade visitor days in the online shop. Like in the year before, the following also applies for 2018: the purchase of a trade visitor ticket is only possible for personal use, and is thus issued to a specific person.

gamescom day ticket and public transport ticket: two separate tickets

This year too, holders of a valid gamescom day ticket still have the possibility to arrive at and depart from gamescom at no charge with the public transport networks VRR and VRS. Thus, those who purchase their day ticket for gamescom 2018 through the online Ticket Shop will now receive two e-mails: the first contains the admission ticket, and the second contains the public transport ticket for printing out. The public transport ticket is only valid in combination with the gamescom day ticket.
