Griefhelm is an award-winning party game developed by Johnny Dale Lonack and published by Thorrnet Publishing. Griefhelm is set up during medieval times, where you are to battle different knights.
The most important features in Griefhelm include:
- Challenging replayable campaigns
- 4 player multiplayer session
- Local 4 player multiplayer
- Unlocking different weapons and skills
- And amazing art style
Griefhelm has a very simple gameplay, where the player either has to attack or defend based on the opponent’s fighting stance. The game also has Co-op play options. Griefhelm is focused more on swordplay; Campaign mode seems to be a light addition to the game, where you are provided a map with random encounters and each encounter can have a random difficulty level. Each level provides some rewards that can be utilized towards improvement of the knight or a one-time perk that could be utilized during options before a battle. The higher difficulty knights will require higher attacks and they are very hard to counter as even the AI is very challenging.
Players who are new to the genre will have some difficulty getting used to the setup as it is tough for different type of game modes even in the campaign. Griefhelm is more fun to be played in multiplayer co-op games that you can play with friends. Combat is the most amazing part of the game as the player will have to quickly adapt to the enemy player’s stance and counter.
Campaign mode is very fun and replayable even though it could be frustrating sometimes since after losing people you will have to restart all over again. But the perks and rewards are amazing. The graphics, art style, and setting of Griefhelm are amazing as there are woods, snow, war lands, and other similar environment that players have to go through. In addition, the game camera and movements are 2D with 3D models utilized. The controls include some very simple stances that include up, forward, and down attacks.
Overall, Griefhelm is an amazing game with a lot of potential, and could be played as a quick game. It could be improved with additional different game modes, which we hope could be part of future updates.
I would rate this game 7 stars out of 10.
