Gameplay Details Revealed
BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND – May 22, 2017 – Hand of Fate: Ordeals, Defiant Development‘s tabletop adaptation of the action RPG series enjoyed by millions, will release in November 2017.
Developed in partnership with board game publisher Rule & Make, Hand of Fate: Ordeals is a strategic dungeon-crawling and deck-building experience set between the original gameand its upcoming sequel. On top of bridging the story between the video games, Hand of Fate: Ordeals introduces multiplayer elements with two to four-player competitive and four-player co-operative modes, along with a single-player campaign.
The competitive mode encourages tactical play, as rivals vie to garner the most fame in combat and acquire valuable cards from the market or through wise navigation of encounters. Though adversaries are encouraged to forge their own path during play, allies will follow a set mission structure in the co-operative mode, where they must unite to overcome challenges.
In Hand of Fate: Ordeals, players draw from a deck of cards and build dungeons on the board from their inventory. Much like its digital counterparts, the tabletop game’s open-ended design ensures no two games ever play out the same way. This system ultimately inspires players to return to The Dealer’s table with friends, deploying new strategies each and every time.
“Hand of Fate: Ordeals encourages strong competition without restricting the prevalent sense of adventure experienced in the video game series,” said Morgan Jaffit, creative director, Defiant Development. “Players pursue their own path as they gather resources, make difficult decisions and brave combat in the race to become the most infamous adventurer on the board.”
