Watch the Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos Trailer:
Who doesn’t remember that familiar jingly, comforting tune, and that cozy feeling the first time they fired up a Harvest Moon game?
I can hear it now, “do do do do dodododo.” IYKYK.
It’s time to get ready to relive those warm fuzzies in the latest edition to the Harvest Moon franchise, Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos.
I Love Farming Digital Carrots!
For those of us who’ve spent hours nurturing virtual crops and petting pixelated cows, the Harvest Moon series needs no introduction. The franchise is all about building an incredibly adorable life for yourself, by farming crops and livestock. In addition to tending, and upgrading, your own farm, players make friends and help neighbors with unique challenges.
Winds of Anthos stays true to the spirit of the game but introduces a brand-new dimension not previously explored in a Harvest Moon game—a fully open-world sandbox!
Players will get to explore the lush continent of Anthos to their heart’s content, playing the game and unlocking the story in whatever order they are interested in. There is no time limit for completing the main or side stories, so each playstyle is supported, whether that involves getting married yesterday, or taming a tiger to become a house cat. As Graham Markay (Vice President of Operations at Natsume) and Adam Fitch (Localization Manager and Editor at Natsume) said in a demo of the game, Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos is not just another farming simulator, it is an entire world waiting to be explored.
Anthos Awaits
While the new game is a true open-world sandbox, there is an overarching story that gamers can follow which will lead them to each part of Anthos.
Anthos is a land watched over by the Harvest Goddess and her trusty Sprites. Unfortunately, a catastrophic volcanic eruption threatened the land and its people, so the Harvest Goddess sealed off all the different areas of Anthos from each other in order to protect them. This means that relatives in different villages are unable to reach each other. Sad!
Gamers will receive a “help me Obi-Wan Kenobi” style message from the Harvest Goddess, calling them to adventure and urging them to restore balance and unity to Anthos.
Anthos hosts a variety of landscapes, each with its own environmental conditions, from spring-timey Lectenberry to winter-clad Zimagrad. And yes, you can move your house and barn to any village, but be sure to be prepared for the different weather conditions. Anthos isn’t just a sunny paradise; players will have to deal with a variety of weather conditions from typhoons to snowstorms.
A Harvest For All

No matter your preference, you can now visit Anthos.Charming, heartwarming, cozy, and absolutely adorable, Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos is a fantastic addition to the franchise. I'm a completionist gamer who just needs to find that one last object and clear that final dungeon. I love all video games, from open world sandboxes on a console to a mindless match three on my phone. In addition to gaming and writing, I am a graduate student working on a thesis about the ancient Icelandic Sagas. Feel free to ask me anything about Vikings.
