High School eSports League Announces Fall Playoff Schedule and Winter Open Registration for North American Students

Varsity-Level eSports Competitions Offer North American High School Students Nationwide College Scholarships Into 2020

KANSAS CITY, MO – High School eSports League (HSEL), the largest and longest-running competitive gaming organization serving high school students and teachers, today announced the schedule for the HSEL Fall Majors, their nationwide seasonal gaming tournament where high school eSports clubs compete for a $30,000 USD prize pool of college scholarship funds.

Entering into its semi-finals on December 14, 2019, HSEL Fall Majors participants from across North America will compete against fellow students in eleven popular video games, with the thirty ultimate champions across all titles winning a $1,000 USD scholarship prize ahead of the holidays. In addition, top participants will receive a free three-month XBOX Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The list of HSEL Fall Majors esports titles includes Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite, Hearthstone, Overwatch, Rainbow Six: Siege, Rocket League, Smite, Super Smash Bros: Ultimate, Madden 20, and NBA 2K20

The HSEL Fall Major Playoffs will be hosted by premier eSports talent such as FBI_TugboatIreliquetopical_tv, and Zark and live-streamed on twitch.tv/VarsityNetwork starting Monday, December 16, 2019, at 6:00 pm CST.

High School eSports League Announces Fall Playoff Schedule and Winter Open Registration for North American Students

Registration for the HSEL Winter Open — a six-week gaming tournament open to all North American high school students (from an HSEL-partnered high school or otherwise) — is also available. Free-agent teams can attend the HSEL Winter Open, allowing participants from different schools to join teams and compete for the HSEL scholarship prize. The Winter Open season begins on January 20, running until February 28, 2020. Finals and prior qualifying matches take place in March.

HSEL Winter Open champions across all games will win $500 USD in scholarship funds, with an additional free three-month XBOX Game Pass Ultimate subscription (valued at $44.99 USD) awarded to all those who play in 4/6 of their matches. Competitors can take part in the Winter Open from an HSEL- Approved GameWorks location, their schools, or from home. Registration is just $30 USD per student and closes on January 17, 2020. Students, teachers/advisors, and existing eSports clubs can register their teams to compete in the HSEL Winter Open at https://www.highschoolesportsleague.com/winter-open-2020.
