Darjeeling’s visually striking game, inspired by the work of Fritz Kahn, arrives on mobile platforms
Paris, France – French independent studio Darjeeling as well as publisher and co-producer ARTE are pleased to announce that their biological puzzle game, Homo Machina, is released today for iOS and Android platforms. Homo Machina is priced at $2.99/€3.49/£2.99.
The winner of Best Mobile/Tablet Game at the 2018 Games Connection Development Awards in San Francisco, and a head-turner at recent events like GDC and Rezzed, Homo Machina is an aesthetically unique title that invites players inside the human body.
But there’s a twist — this body is a gigantic factory, staffed by an army of workers that must be instructed to successfully execute a series of human functions that we perform every day. Across a series of scenarios, they’ll be responsible for opening your eyes in the morning, eating (and digesting) your breakfast, and so much more. If you can get them to cooperate, that is, by using the game’s accessible and intuitive touch controls.
Inspired by the iconic, illustrations of German physician Fritz Kahn – particularly his best-selling 1920s book series, Das Leben des Menschen (Human Life) – Homo Machina presents the human body as a vast machine, comprised of connected departments and communication channels, manned by a staff of tiny humans. Kahn’s imaginative work, transforming the biological into the mechanical, has delighted viewers for almost a century, and represents a foundational cornerstone of infographic design.
Darjeeling has created Homo Machina with co-production from ARTE France and Feierabend, and the support of CNC (Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée) and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
