Hooded Horse is thrilled to announce that it has teamed up with Minakata Dynamics, the developers of the highly simulation-based rail strategy game Railgrade, to publish Whiskerwood, a city-builder with a cat and mouse theme.
Check out the Whiskerwood announce trailer HERE
In Whiskerwood, players take on the dictatorial paw of their feline overlords as they construct a home for their hardworking mice in unknown terrain. This city builder includes intricate simulations, a supply chain management system that handles more than 40 commodities, and the classic cat and mouse competition.
The common mouse is dispatched on dangerous expeditions from its home as the cat kingdom expands over the oceans. As players arrive by ship on unexplored islands brimming with resources, they have to move fast to build a colony in order to satisfy the urgent and ever expanding needs of their feline overlords. The avarice of their ruler will eventually drive every mouse in the colony to choose between continuing to submit to the tyrannical paw and raising whiskers in rebellion.
Whiskerwood Key Features:
- There are more than 40 goods to collect, produce, and exchange; these range from basic materials like wood and ore to upscale goods like tea and furniture that can be obtained by winning people over.
- In vertical city planning, players must make the most of their available area by digging deep beneath and building upwards into the sky. For optimal outcomes, careful planning is required.
- Intricate supply and logistics networks that include lifts, conveyor belts, water pumps, and more! Make sure cargo arrives at destination swiftly, and construct irrigation and heating systems.
- Open new policy and use diplomacy to your benefit by interacting with various factions of mice and even fighting pirates (as allies or adversaries).
- As the colony expands, investigate new production techniques to meet its demands and automate production lines for optimal efficiency.
- Turn-based ship-of-war fighting and a strategic layer to extend influence outside the colony are available for use when force is needed.
Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender stated, “Mice always seem so hard working and industrious. They’re perfect characters for a colony sim/city builder. While I love cats, I can see them running a mercantile empire. And who doesn’t love the idea of a Boston Cheese Party?”
Studio Head Daniel Dressler stated, “Whiskerwood is our team’s passion project and the culmination of a decade’s worth of city builder prototypes. It is an honor to work with Hooded Horse and finally bring our creation to life. Their way of business has enabled us to make Whiskerwood the best it can be and wholly without pressure.”
German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese will all be able to access Whiskerwood after it is translated from English.
Whiskerwood will be heading to Steam Early Access. You can wishlist the game right now.
