Hover is a freestyle running game, published by Plug In Digital, and developed by Midgar Studios and Fusty Games. The game takes place in a futuristic world, which has alien species, bots, and cities from a futuristic world.
Hover lets you go through character creation first, where you can set the character the way you want to. Next you go through the tutorials. The story is about the world, where any kind of entertainment is banned. The rebellion team, which also includes your character, is trying to go against the law to try as much as possible to change the law going against it in their own way.
The gameplay pretty much starts with a tutorial of basic jumping, running, and skill mechanics. You can then take on quests by talking to different people throughout the world. Players can use certain mechanics while doing certain quests, which are pretty much running through checkpoints and getting ahead before the other team. The trick to running faster is using a trick in a combo and charging the meter that lets you run faster. The other options for getting more points are to use mods that can be earned doing quests. There are slots to use mods as players level up; the mod slots are unlocked as well. There are different game modes based on the quests the players can get.
The graphics of Hover could have been improvised as the UI and colors setup in the game kind of makes you confused and lose focus on the objective during a mission. Also the story does not feel that well designed and the game is more based on the free roaming rather than following quests. It took me a while to understand and work around with the UI. Also the gameplay mechanics are really good but they could have been implemented better. Music in the background does not match the feel of the game at all and makes a disconnect during the gameplay itself.
Overall, as I already explained, Hover has a really good concept but it could have been implemented better. The developersy could have focused better on the overall design part based on current gen graphics as well. For me, it was a whole lot of disconnect with the game. I would rate this game 6 stars out of 10.
