Greetings Gamers, Greg here from Gaming Cypher to talk about the New Pinball FX3 expansion featuring everyone’s favorite explorer, Indiana Jones, bringing classic pinball action into your home with an adventurous twist. As someone who just went to a bar arcade in the real world and had a great time playing mostly pinball, it made me remember how universally loved pinball is, especially among non-gamers.
Playing this digital version of pinball still has appeal despite not being in a physical cabinet. Especially for people who remember this iconic table design from their favorite arcade. The developers are able to add digital effects into the purely video-based version that enhances pinball with exciting 3D elements to this classic game which can be toggled on and off. Indiana Jones will swing out over the game table with style just to let you know he’s watching that giant ball and isn’t gonna get caught having to run from it. I also enjoy the fact that I’m not dumping handfuls of quarters into the arcade machines. When we were at the barcade, I didn’t mind spending a roll of quarters on arcade games because it’s the experience of being able to enjoy an arcade as an adult plus having alcohol. But I would much rather spend a fixed price on a game and play in the comfort of my own home. This game does have a version where you can challenge your friends to get the highest score too. That makes it a little bit more competitive and allows for endless matches of pinball, quarters not required.
Just like the original table, this is filled with Easter eggs but now many of them can move like the Tank, the arch of the covenant, and the temple. This new digital version also plays little snippets from the movies in pinball style adding a little extra to your table experience.
These are all super fun add ons to a pinball experience, but at the end of the day this is an add on to a free game so some people may feel like it might be a lot of money for one tabletop as many of the other table packs come with multiple table designs. I would say though that this is lovingly reconstructed and enhanced from the original table design so if you are an Indiana Jones and pinball fan this might be the perfect fit for you.
Overall I give this Pinball FX3 add-on a 7/10. This is a super cool tabletop, but you have to be willing to spend the money on a digital Pinball machine.
