Even the most dedicated foodie need look no further than the Kirby’s Dream Buffet themed MAXIMUS CUP, which arrives soon to the Tetris 99 game for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. The Kirby’s Dream Buffet 31st MAXIMUS CUP event will satisfy enthusiastic gourmands by featuring a sprawling buffet of 99 players, with a ravenous appetite for competition, placing Tetriminos!
The Tetris 99 31st MAXIMUS CUP event runs from 11 p.m. PT on Dec. 15 to 10:59 p.m. PT on Dec. 19. To participate, any Nintendo Switch Online member just needs to play the Tetris 99 online mode during the event period. Players will earn event points based on their placement in each match. Once players have accumulated a total of 100 event points, a new theme will unlock, featuring background art, music and Tetrimino designs inspired by the Kirby’s Dream Buffet game. There’s even a free seven-day trial available for new Nintendo Switch Online members if you’d like to participate for the first time!
In the Kirby’s Dream Buffet game, which is available now in Nintendo eShop, you’ll join Kirby on a rolling adventure of food-themed stages in cute and delicious four-player competition. The game features a delectable spread of game modes. In Gourmet Grand Prix, up to four players will race across mouth-watering obstacle courses, collecting strawberries to plump up Kirby. Race mode will have players rolling through a course of delectable foods to get to the finish first. In between races, minigames offer the perfect palate cleanser. And it all culminates in Battle Royale, the final confrontation to see which Kirby has grown largest.
In addition to Tetris 99, any Nintendo Switch Online member can also enjoy online play and the Save Data Cloud feature in a large selection of compatible games, along with access to over 100 classic NES and Super NES games, a smartphone app that enhances features of supported games, and the competitive online battle game PAC-MAN 99.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership plan features all the same great benefits of a Nintendo Switch Online membership, but with access to a library of classic Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis games with online play.
