Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition Review for PlayStation 5

Greetings gamers, Greg here from Gaming Cypher here to discover what’s going on in Savage Planet. I got to spend some time exploring “Journey to Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition,” which includes the full Journey to the Savage Planet game and the Hot Garbage DLC as one standalone product. The new EOTM edition has optimized 4K Graphics for high-end consoles, 60fps on PS5, new in-game ads, new Martin Tweed videos, and new photo mode filters and frames. If you loved the game launched in January 2020, this update and expansion might just be the journey you’ve been looking for.

Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition Review for PlayStation 5

Journey to the Savage Planet continues to offer funny and interesting discoveries throughout the gameplay of the base game. The alien cartoonish world looks even better in 4K 60 FPS than ever. Since so much of the gameplay is dependent on discovery it really helps to be able to enjoy it in a higher resolution. The main campaign is still fairly light on structure offering lots of time to explore and complete collection quests. If you are someone who likes to find hidden gems this is the type of game for you. Unlocking areas as you gain abilities and equipment suited for the environment.

While the DLC-1 Hot Garbage is a standalone DLC expansion that offers its own story, mechanics, and lands to discover. Bring the beaches of space to your controller with a few hours-long mystery story about corporate pollution and rivalry over territories of space. The Hot Garbage DLC offers gas rings you can fly through with a jetpack in order to reach places in the Hot Garbage world that is accessible through a portal from the main game. Which sadly means you can’t use any of the new mechanics in the old parts of the game. Perhaps in future updates, they will more thoroughly incorporate elements from the DLC in the main game but if that were to happen, I’m sure it would be tied to a big DLC update and another exploration area.

In DLC-1, the in-game description for the DLC, gamers will face off against some reskinned enemies that may look different but offer the same behaviors and move sets as well as the best addition to the enemy roster the robots that have to be defeated in many different ways based on the type of robot opponent.

Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition Review for PlayStation 5

Overall, if you like exploration games similar to the likes of Subnotica and a game that has some fun humor similar to Portal and a bit of a mystery to solve this might just be a game you can lose yourself in alone or in cooperative mode. I am personally the type of gamer to check every corner and every dead end of a game for hidden secrets so this type of game really appeals to me. So this is a game I enjoyed and will likely not put down until I 100%.

“Journey to Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition: gets a 7/10 from us here at Gaming Cypher.

In addition to PS5 Journey to Savage Planet EOTM Edition is available on Xbox X/S and the base game is available on PS4, Xbox one, Windows, and Switch.
